What is a Learning Path?

A Learning Path is a set of 3-5 classes that build towards mastery of Elementary English and Math skills and standards.

What’s the benefit?

There are lots! Your learner and you get:

  • Curated collections of classes aligned on skills & standards, so learners can develop their math skills and easily find their next class
  • A list of skills your learner should have already mastered before enrolling, so they are in the Path that will meet their needs
  • Clearly defined learning goals for each class, tied to mastery-based assessments
  • Personalized feedback to inform you about your learner’s progress and level of mastery throughout and at the end of the Learning Path

Have confidence that your learner is being challenged by enrolling them in the classes that best meet their needs.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about OS Learning Paths

What does a sample Learning Path look like?

All paths consist of at least 3 classes that build towards mastery of Elementary Math or Reading skills and standards. However, you can take one or all of the classes. Below is a sample Learning Path:

Skill: Understanding Place Value
Weeks Class
1-2 Forming Numbers: Converting to Standard & Expanded Form
3-4 Power Station: Multiplying Decimals and the Power of 10
5-6 Visualizing Math: Using math stories to explain value

How do I know which Learning Path is right for my learner?

Learners have the option to take an assessment at the conclusion of the Path.  This will provide you insights into the skills and standards your learner has mastered and the ones they are still developing.  Each Learning Path will outline the skills and standards being taught, so it will be easy to find the right Path for your learner.

What if my learner is advanced in some skills and struggles with others?

Each class within a Path details the standards & skills that will be taught.  You can take classes from any Learning Path, so you always find the class that is right for your learner.

When do Learning Path classes meet?

Times and days will vary.  However, all classes in a Learning Path will meet on the same days of the week and times of day.  This makes continuing on your Path easy.

Is there a minimum number of classes I can enroll my learner in?

There is no minimum.  Only sign up for the classes that fit your learner's needs.

How will I know if my learner is making progress?

Each class in a Learning Path will assess the skills and standards identified in the class description.  The teacher will report your learner's progress and make suggestions for future classes and Learning Paths.

Develop your skills and foster a love of learning!
